Our route at times will parallel the Camino Frances, the ancient pilgrim walking route. 500 miles from Santiago de Compostela to Southwest France. Stop en-route for a visit to the Twelfth-century Cathedral of Lyon and (weather permitting) the mountain-top village of O Cebreiro; a charming Celtic settlement with 1200-year-old thatched-roof homes and an ancient church associated with a Fourteenth-century miracle of the Blessed Sacrament. Afternoon arrival in Santiago de Compostela, where, according to tradition, it was here in the Eith-century. that the bones of the Apostle James, one of the “Sons of Thunder” and a Missionary to Iberia, were miraculously discovered in a “field of stars”. Since then, pilgrims have come from all corners of the earth to pay homage to the fisherman who was mending his nets by the Sea of Galilee when Our Lord first called him.
